CONFERENCE

VI Sustainable Mobility Week
of Maputo's Metropolitan Area 2023

Date: June 11th to 24th, 2023, Maputo, Mozambique.

During the week of the 11th to the 24th of June 2023, Maputo will proudly host its sixth edition of Sustainable Mobility Week. The primary objective of this event is to engage in integrated, multi-sectoral reflections, fostering experiences and establishing synergies with local partners regarding the opportunities and challenges linked to sustainable mobility. Key topics for discussion encompass governance at the metropolitan level, challenges in providing essential services, active mobility, public transportation systems, urban expansion, and resilience within the urban sphere.

During Maputo's Sustainable Mobility Week in Maputo, Mozambique, a stakeholder workshop was developed by local partners to engage with policymakers, communities and practitioners. In Maputo, Architects Without Borders (ASF) and the Mobility and Transport Observatory (OMT) presented the OWS Project and findings about walking experiences in Chamanculo. This low-income neighbourhood will be our case study for the pilot taking place during the last stage of our Project.

Representing our team in Maputo, Floriana Mutambe will present the Project during the Second Round Table, themed "Schools, youth, and road safety."
